A good cocktail this time of the year needs a festive touch, and this is exactly what the Christmas Margarita brings. One of the flavours we associate with Christmas time is Cranberry, so it's only appropriate to include the sweet tart profile of Cranberry juice in this merry twist on one of the most well know classic cocktails out there.

The standard Margarita leans more towards the sour side of drinks, and for some people this is a bit too much of an intense taste. The Cranberry juice in the Christmas Margarita balances this out it's the sweet fruity and somewhat dry flavour. On top of this you have your usual Margarita components such as Cointreau (Orange Liqueur for those not familiar), Lime juice and Tequila which with the new ingredient here creates a well balanced flavourful cocktail.

So this Christmas if you are in the mood for something new but not too unfamiliar, a Christmas Margarita might just be enough to settle your craving.

Here is how it is made.

Christmas Margarita Ingredients

2 oz. (60 ml) Tequila

1 oz. (30 ml) Cointreau (or an Orange Liqueur)

1 oz. (30 ml) Lime juice

1 oz. (30 ml) Cranberry Juice

Rim : Salt or Sugar

Preparation

  1. Rim a Margarita glass with salt or sugar using Lime juice.

  2. Add ice to a shaker with all the ingredients.

  3. Shake well till chilled (10 - 15 seconds).

  4. Pour and strain into your Margarita glass.
