Prep time : 3-4 minutes

Serves : 1

Strength : Strong
Blue cocktails can be some of the most eye catching drinks out there. Their bold deep colour creates a look that makes you want to try it out. So with all the aesthetic appeal, how do you make a drink like that stand out even more ? With a nice layer of Red Wine of course.
The blue layer of this drink has a sweet but slightly dry flavour from the combination of Gin and Simple Syrup with a bit of sour from the Lemon Juice. The Red Wines impact will vary on the brand you choose. We recommend something down the middle that has both a fruity but dry tone to it. When you start to sip on The Blue New Yorker you initially get all the taste of that Red Wine but with a big enough sip, both layers combine into the perfect pairing of sweet, citrus and dry sharpness.
If you like similar cocktails like the New York Sour, then this is one that you will want to have on your radar. It's more than just looks, but the way it looks speaks for itself.
Here is how it is made.
The Blue New Yorker Ingredients
1 1/2 oz. (45 ml) Gin
1/2 oz. (15 ml) Simple Syrup
3/4 oz. (22.5 ml) Blue Curacao
1 oz. (30 ml) Lemon Juice
Red Wine float (Layer on top)
Garnish : Blackberry
Preparation
Add all ingredients except the Red Wine to a shaker with ice.
Shake well till chilled.
Pour into a Rocks Glass over a large ice cube.
Float Red Wine on top by pouring it slowly down the back of a barspoon.
Garnish with a Blackberry
